I came across this lovely raw food blog that is also written by none other than a MOM! I get excited about this kind of stuff. After doing a little browsing, I realized that Helen, the founder, also runs Natural Zing, a raw food super store! The exciting part is that I have been selling my kookie karma products through Natural Zing for about 5 years now. What a small world!
Helen - love your blog! Had no idea!
I decided to share this wonderful recipe. It's for kids too {yay - I always love that}! TAKING THIS STRAIGHT FROM HER BLOG, HERE GOES:
Here it is 11:30 pm and I'm coming up with a dip for a kids party. Yes, my 3 yr. old's first school party and not sure what to do, I signed up to bring the veggie. So how do I make my veggie as appealing as cookies and fruit? We'll after I cut up my pretty carrot sticks and decided maybe they need a dip. Well most the dips I have made for my family are nut dips. They had a big note on the sign up sheet "No Nuts". So what are my other options? Avocado dip....that could turn brown before the party begins, hummus...I'm not good with raw hummus, so I started considering seed dips.
How lucky I am to have these new Austrian Pumpkinseeds in the refrigerator. They are awesome! They are very high in zinc and iron, cool. I also, have some hempseeds that I can grind up in the morning to add to the dip. Next to make up a recipe. I think I'll sleep on it and maybe ask Chef Bliss for his ideas in the morning. ...to continue writing in the morning...
Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 c. Pumpkin Seeds soaked overnight
¼ c. Hemp seeds
Juice from 2 lemons
1 tbs. agave nectar
½ tsp. Sea salt or Himalayan salt
¼ tsp. Chili powderInstructions:
Soak the pumpkin seeds overnight for about 8 hrs. Drain them and let them sit and germinate for about 2 hrs. Put all ingredients into the blender and start blending. You may need to stop and used a spatula to help move the contents around to get it to blend better. When smooth as desired spoon out and serve with fresh cut veggies.Everything at the party went well, the kids loved the carrots, some liked the dip, however the parents and the teachers really liked the dip. Best of all there was no candy, lots of fruit and veggies for all children. When they went trick or treating they only received toys....excellent.
