    Rooibos Tea - For Kids?

I had this grand idea the other day - TEA! Yes, tea. Not for myself but for my 26 month old. He had been asking me for tea since he was like 20 months old {I know, kinda odd} and I had always said NO. Tea isn't really a child's drink. I didn't think a baby had mature enough taste buds and of course most tea has caffeine.

But I was shopping at Jimbo's awhile back and came across the tea isle. I picked up some super strong loose leaf green tea for myself and upon grabbing the tin I noticed a kids tea tin. It has a giraffe on it and a few other zoo animals. My son immediately wanted it. The labels claims it's great for kids? I wasn't so sure.

The main ingredient is organic rooibos {which is caffeine free} and the rest is organic vanilla and strawberry flavors.

So when we got home I warmed some water and made the tea. I thought for SURE my son would want honey or a sweetener, right? How good could it be plain?

I gave it to him plain. He told me he LOVES IT! He drinks a whole 'adult' mug full from time to time. He doesn't want it in a sippy cup. And he likes it warm so he can blow on it.

Herbal teas are calorie free {kids actually need lots of calories but not necessarily in the form of honey or juice all day long} which means there's no sugar. Rooibos is full of minerals and antioxidants.

Try it. Make it fun. Show your child how to warm the water on the stove, show her the tea bags and the mug. Let her drink it slowly, blow on it. Just like Mommy does!

    Enjoy!

We have given our kids Roobios tea for quite a few years. We were introduced to it from a friend who grew up in South Africa and he told us they gave it to all the kids there. It is great! It helped calm my oldest sons belly. Just reading this post makes me want to go have a cup. : )

@Christi & Tiff - how funny, glad to know others already give their kids tea as a snack. i love that it has no sugar. i'm always looking for stuff that kids love w/o sugar - not easy to find. haha

Rooibos Tea tastes more herbal and earthy. This tea is smooth in flavor and contains fewer tannins than many other varieties

Passion fruit water is yet another youth serum. As passion fruit is full of vitamin C, vitamin A, fiber, and minerals like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and folate. These help your kidneys, nerves, muscles, and heart rhythm in big ways.
Your body uses Vitamins C to make blood vessels, cartilage, muscles, and collagen, which keeps skin looking young. It also helps your body heal, lowers inflammation, and protects your cells from damage. When you get enough vitamin C, it lowers your chances of getting colds and certain types of cancers. Vit A is great for eyes, immunity, and cells.
Note: did you know Passion Fruit is actually a berry? The biggest berry you’ll find.

If you’re not ready for change, you’re not rea
If you’re not ready for change, you’re not ready for change. And that’s perfectly ok.
Making healthy choices isn’t hard work. You “have time” to choose an apple over a bag of chips. Let’s be real here; you just DON’T WANT TO. And that alone is totally ok!!
Let’s not shame others choices or pressure another to change. If somebody is not happy where they’re at, or they are sick, or in pain, only then will they start examining their current routines and habits. Anger is a great catalysts for change. It often pushes people out if their comfort zones and into action.
I often hear “I don’t have time to be healthy”. But what that really means is I don’t want to change or I’m afraid of change. And I’m not ready. Change is what they’re nervous about - not the amount of time it takes to chop up vegetables.
Be kind to yourself…but be honest.
Notice what you say you desire (weightloss or more energy) and then really examine your habits. Do you make the choices a “thin” person makes? Do you make the choices a rested high energy person needs to make? This might seem obvious but it’s actually not…so often we overlook this gap. We don’t see it and then we get mad at ourselves. Punish ourselves for “failing” over and over again.
Once you start paying attention to your actions and habits and line them up with your goals - that’s when the magic happens.
Yay or nay?
