The Well Being Journal & Fun Nutrition Facts

Goodness, there are soo many great things that I have been wanting to blog about lately. One is how fantastic I feel and look {haha} right now after 16 days of homeopathic cleansing and then now 7 days of candida diet.

I have the whole family eating no juice or sugar or agave or fruit and we are LOVING it. All of us actually. My kids are acting much more calm and collected, that's for SURE. Of course carbs are very important so they are eating whole grains and some juice from the juicer as well as apple sauces.

    Anyways, more on that later.

I want to share a few fun nutrition facts with you today! But first, I wanted to introduce you to one of my favorite magazines/journals on the planet. It's a GREAT reference guide for health and eco planet info:

    The Well Being Journal.

This journal is filled with the best research-based alternative health information/articles you'll ever find. I have been reading this magazine since I was 20 years old {my uncle got me hooked back then} and Kookie Karma used to actually advertise in their as well back in 2006/2007 when we used to advertise.

I remembering falling in love with the magazine when I read an article years ago about how soy is actually bad for us. I thought "finally, somebody else thinks this too!!" I had a terrible hormone reaction to soy back then and this was the first place I'd read something about it. They are very ahead of the times when it comes to nutrition, vaccines, supplements, and so on.

I picked up an old issue today, back from 2006. Coincidentally this issue has an article titled Nourishing Foods for a Growing Baby. It was fun to re-read, since back in 2006 babies weren't even on my radar.

I collected a few interesting tips that I want to share with you from not only this journal but also from a few other candida and food books I've been reading lately:

GREAT reminders and things to think about. I love the comment about grains. We are taught that grains are the first foods that babies should eat and eggs should be the last. Also, garlic is something we would think to be off-putting for babies. Right?

Also, it's so true about breast feeding. The milk we give our babies is as good as what we put in our bodies. A great reminder to give yourself nourishing foods, too.

OK, that's all for now. Have a lovely lovely day! It is a beautiful beginning of Fall here in SD. I'm loving every moment of it.

      Zoe,
Thanks for the comments. Breakfast today: warm brown rice cereal with fresh vanilla almond milk. I also add probiotics and flax oil with a tiny sprinkle of xylitol. Also, juice green apples and add ginger and lemon. You can also do a thick blueberry shake with some xylitol as well. Just try and use very little so that it's not too sweet. 🙂

It's not as hard as it sounds. I have tons of recipes to add to this section of the blog. Will do soon!

      Thanks again!
      Juli

My doctor actually told us to give the baby egg yolks. We are not suppose to give the whites for a while though.

Zoe - I didn't lose weight actually. I gained 2. But that's because for me a) it was more about getting rid of the vinegars, mushrooms, and yeast and b) i didn't necessarily eat a lot of fruit or sugar before this. If you notice you eat a lot of fruit, dessert, dairy {cheese}, sugar, pasta, carbs, etc. then YES you will for sure lose weight like anybody would on a low carb diet.

does that make sense? it's a great way to lose weight.

Passion fruit water is yet another youth serum. As passion fruit is full of vitamin C, vitamin A, fiber, and minerals like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and folate. These help your kidneys, nerves, muscles, and heart rhythm in big ways.
Your body uses Vitamins C to make blood vessels, cartilage, muscles, and collagen, which keeps skin looking young. It also helps your body heal, lowers inflammation, and protects your cells from damage. When you get enough vitamin C, it lowers your chances of getting colds and certain types of cancers. Vit A is great for eyes, immunity, and cells.
Note: did you know Passion Fruit is actually a berry? The biggest berry you’ll find.

If you’re not ready for change, you’re not rea
If you’re not ready for change, you’re not ready for change. And that’s perfectly ok.
Making healthy choices isn’t hard work. You “have time” to choose an apple over a bag of chips. Let’s be real here; you just DON’T WANT TO. And that alone is totally ok!!
Let’s not shame others choices or pressure another to change. If somebody is not happy where they’re at, or they are sick, or in pain, only then will they start examining their current routines and habits. Anger is a great catalysts for change. It often pushes people out if their comfort zones and into action.
I often hear “I don’t have time to be healthy”. But what that really means is I don’t want to change or I’m afraid of change. And I’m not ready. Change is what they’re nervous about - not the amount of time it takes to chop up vegetables.
Be kind to yourself…but be honest.
Notice what you say you desire (weightloss or more energy) and then really examine your habits. Do you make the choices a “thin” person makes? Do you make the choices a rested high energy person needs to make? This might seem obvious but it’s actually not…so often we overlook this gap. We don’t see it and then we get mad at ourselves. Punish ourselves for “failing” over and over again.
Once you start paying attention to your actions and habits and line them up with your goals - that’s when the magic happens.
Yay or nay?
