    A Week Of Serious Hydration

I have decided to take a week to focus on hydration. I feel like I worry more about my food choices and less about my water intake. I have noticed more unnecessary wrinkles and just overall dry skin {and I know why, I've been so busy moving and not focusing enough attention on juicing}. So, I'm hoping to see some improvement in my skin, among other things, this week.

    Join Me!?

You might be thinking I drink lots of water, I don't need to do this! Well, you might want to think again. It's not just about how much water you drink, it's also about the food you eat, your environment, and how much you sweat. Do you travel a lot? Is it hot outside today? Are you on a medication or involved in exercise and sports? Are you stressed {hello? me me me}?

Integrative health care specialist & PureMamas contributor, Christine Dionese, says:

"Look to your urine color! If it's dark yellow, brick colored or orange, your body wants more water. If it's lighter yellow or pale yellow, then you're likely getting enough!"

Now are you feeling a bit more motivated to join me?

If not, you might want to hear what else Christine has to say:

"Staying hydrated improves concentration, memory, energy, reduction of headaches, sore aching joints and muscles, improved metabolism and weight loss, improved skin and more.

"A quick tip - many people confuse hunger and thirst. If you're having a difficult time differentiating between the two, go for the more water-bearing foods like Juli suggests - no salt, less cooked/dehdyrated foods and high water fruits such as cucumbers, oranges, tomatoes and so on."

Dehydration can be and is often the main contributor to unwanted small wrinkles on your face. Beauty experts have told us this for a long time now.

Drinking clean pure water with lots of lemons is also great for detoxing your kidneys and liver, which in turn helps your skin glow and keep your mind clear. In fact, as much as I dislike talking about celeb gossip on my blog, I wanted to point out that Beyonce drinks a ton of lemon water all day long and DAMN, look at her skin!

But it is NOT just about drinking water. You also must avoid some seroiusly dehydrating activities, foods and beverages. You need proper electrolyte balance as well.

Here is my quick list of things to consume LESS of this week and things to consume MORE of this week! So far today, I woke up to green juice, lemon water and an avocado. I'm going to eat a lunch without adding sea salt {sniff} and season it all with fresh ingredients like lemon and olive oil.

I'm going to avoid {or at least minimize} caffeine and alcohol intake, dairy, processed or boxed foods and dehydrated foods.

And not only am I going to drink more water, I'm going to UP my intake of green juices and smoothies while minimizing my intake of cooked foods. Cooking foods and dehydrating removes water from foods. Oh and did I mention my man, Wes, is going meatless all week as well. Meat is dehydrating. SORRY everbody, but it is the truth!

If I exercise, which I am planning on doing, I will up my liquids as well.

My other main goal this week is to simply get BETTER at always drinking more hydrating liquids {and less of the more exciting ones like coffee and wine}. I'm hoping that my conscious effort this week will result in better habits. I often forget to drink water and that's my main problem with feeling dehydrated. Not to mention, I have an addiction to sea salt {wine and coffee}.

In case you are actually wondering -- what is proper intake of water? According to Christine:

"The common recommendation of eight, eight-ounce glasses of water is a standard based on a 120 pound person. Shooting for half of your body weight in ounces a day is the easiest and most reliable way to figure out about how much you should be drinking."

    GOOD LUCK!

And stay tuned for tomorrow's blog post :: Meredith's Crazy Hydrating Secrets! {and by the way, this girl GLOWS and has no wrinkles, I know this because we just hung out last week - ha}.

Thanks for the hydration reminder. I am sometimes a shocker with fluids. I get busy and before I know it I have had little fluids all day. It is very naughty and something I have to be really mindful of.

Sherilyn, that is EXACTLY my problem. They days just passes by and then I'm left with a day of barely any water. I get so mad at myself. So this is why I decided to dedicate a whole week to thinking about hydration all day. INSIDE and outside. Good luck and let me know how it goes for you!

Hehe, love your "less, more" photos, very cute! It made me think this concept would be great as a children's picture book for healthy living!

Let’s get real : Succeeding at anything takes discipline. Even manifesting takes discipline. Often clients say that they tried this diet or that diet. And they can’t seem to reach their health goals or heal or lose weight. And every time we take a deep look it’s because there really isn’t the discipline they think there is! The same way a fish doesn’t see water we have a hard time recognizing our own self sabotaging habits and patterns.
I’m not talking about restriction or lack or counting calories or counting fat grams. That’s old-school. Don’t confuse discipline with restriction.
P.S. this my first attempt at trying out trending audios😜🤷‍♀️

Damn this combo of garlic, ginger and tahini over sautéed potatoes is 💣. I love tahini dressing because of how creamy it gets without using cashews or dairy products. I first sautéed the potatoes in vegan butter. I added a few shallots for fun. THAT’S IT. If you cut them thin enough they cook in just 5-6 minutes on medium high heat. I added raw kale to them for added fiber and minerals.
Dressing
2 cloves garlic
1/4 inch piece of fresh ginger
1 whole lemon
2-3 Tbsp sesame oil,
1 heaping Tbsp tahini
2 Tbsp water
big pinch sea salt.
blend it all together until creamy and chunk-free.
Enjoy

LISTEN 👂I wish somebody shared this wisdom with
LISTEN 👂I wish somebody shared this wisdom with me when I was younger.
I used to think perfection was actually THE goal in life. Literally that’s what I thought - be your best, do your best, be the nicest, get the best grades, look your best, date the best, eat the best, do no wrong, don’t argue, be happy and makes others happy, give give give…and if I didn’t accomplish those things I was very concerned. I wondered what was wrong with me and punish myself. I know…laughable right? But nobody told me otherwise🤷‍♀️
This is what a version of codependency looks like: perpetual state of feeling not good enough, constant state of fear or fight or flight…exhausting, defeating and eventually leads to dis-ease. A victim in almost all areas of your life: “Why is this person being awful to me, why am I sick when others are well, this isn’t fair”.
After deep healing and self exploration, I clearly see how my ways of looking at life, my own actions (people pleasing or having no boundaries), attract the abusers, users, haters, broken people; I attracted people to treat me poorly.
So, this is what is meant by “taking accountability” for your life and understanding why certain things are happening “to you”.
Not everybody is supposed to like you or agree with you or UNDERSTAND YOU. But taking it PERSONAL (becoming a victim) is your choice. Being Treated with complete disrespect is THEIR choice. Playing IN THE game of TOXICITY however is also your choice.
Freedom is attainable. Healing is attainable. Harmony and peace are attainable. It just requires radical self awareness. Today I choose to break the rules that were never there to begin with.

🍌🍌🍌As you can see I have been on a crepes binge lately! This time I’m making sweet crepes. Need to use up your overly ripe bananas? This is the recipe for you!
Batter
2 ripe bananas
1 1/2 c gf flour
2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 cup water
Blend on high until batter is creamy and smooth. Pour batter onto bubbling hot greased frying pan. Make sure the batter is thinly spread. Let that cook well. Flip when ready. Flip another couple times and repeat.
Add filling of our choice. I used chocolate chips and maple syrup.
Delicious and healthy! What will you put inside your crepes?

Sometimes I like to just enjoy slow days full of cleaning, music, cooking and just being grateful I’m alive and healthy! Aaaah the best feeling!
I cooked my butternut squash in olive oil, garlic, cumin, pepper and sea salt. That’s it. The sage was an easy bonus. Simple. And healthy.
