A healthy breakfast is very important and what better way to start the day than with fresh in season berries and sprouted buckwheat. You could add any milk you would like but why not make fresh, homemade spiced nut milk to pour on top?
This breakfast is especially energizing because there is no dairy or any added oils or grains. Just raw plant-based goodness.
I especially love the Go Raw sprouted buckwheat when I don't have time to make my own {who does, now a days?} because it has flax seeds as well for healthy omega fats. No nuts, sugar, sea salt or agave added! They are ORGANIC. NOT baked, but rather sprouted and dehydrated at 105 degrees. Still living and full of enzymes.
⅓ of a cup has 3 grams of protein and 4 grams of healthy fats. Buckwheat is gluten-free because it's not a grain!! Not even part of the grain family. How is that for interesting.
So eat up and why not have seconds?
SPROUTED BUCKWHEAT BREAKFAST
- ⅓ c Go Raw sprouted buckwheat OR sprouted and dehydrate your own
1 c mixed variety of berries or in season fruit
1 c homemade nut milk {see recipe below}
1 teaspoon maple syrup {optional}
spoonful chopped mint
Combine all of the above ingredients in a bowl. Enjoy
HAZELNUT MILK
- 1 c hazelnuts {soaked for 1 hour}
4 c purified water
½ vanilla bean {or other spices, like cinnamon or cardamom}
3 Tbls honey or sweetener of choice
Combine all of the above ingredients in a Vitamix. Blend on high until completely mixed, about 1 minute. Strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or a super fine mesh strainer.
After breakfast I had mint leftover and a lot of hazelnut milk. So, I added peppermint flavoring and made a wonderful refreshing drink - on ice!
