It's a Wintery 40 degree weather and we're eating ice cream for breakfast.
My kids just love anything cold - popsicles, slushies, ice cream, you name it!
Even when it's nearly freezing outside.
Today we decided to make ice cream out of bananas. That's right! Just raw ripe bananas.
To give it a little bit more of an "ice cream" feel, we added a vanilla bean as well.
No added sweeteners.
No added creams or milks.
Just Bananas.
Why you should make this:
Bananas are SO good for you.
And this ice cream has only about 105 calories per serving and 2g protein {2 small scoops}
LADIES, the high potassium {good for regulating blood sugar} and low sodium content in bananas makes them a heart-healthy food. Bananas also contain resistant starch and prebiotic fiber, which increase fat metabolism and curb hunger to promote weight loss.
ATHLETES, this is a great snack for you as well.
According to Live Strong web site, one large 9-inch banana will carry approximately 600 mg of potassium. Potassium is essential for the proper function of the heart, kidneys, muscles, nerves and digestive system. Potassium is used by the body to help balance salt and water content, preventing bloating and dehydration
KIDS, this is a great alternative to any ice cream or sugary snack. There are no added sugars or fats. Just ripe fruit off the tree. A great snack that parents can feel good about.
