Homemade Seasoning Blend - You Can Use On Everything

Jump to Recipe - Print Recipe

A wonderful homemade seasoning blend you can use on almost everything you cook. From veggies to beans, to "cheese" sauces, hummus dips, and vegan meats and tofu.

hand holding a jar of homemade seasoning blend labelled "everything spice".

This recipe was inspired by a blend I fell in love with from Trader Joes. It was actually called "Vegan Chickenless" seasoning blend. I cooked all my "meats" and veggies with it used it in vegan cheese dips as well. It was the perfect seasoning.

But one day, it became discontinued. I was so sad but the good news is it led me to play around with different spices to create my own.

Marinate cauliflower, broccoli, even onions in this spice and some olive oil. Use it on potatoes before you bake or air fry them. It's a great spice to use for hummus or cheese sauce. Use it for making lentil meatballs or when making meat for tacos.

    Homemade Seasoning Blend Ingredients

These spices are subtle but bring really do a great job of highlighting the flavors in vegetables and bland meats.

A plate is on a counter with individual spices labelled according to each spice. tumeric powder, sea salt, onion powder, and garlic powder.
    • Onion Powder
    • Garlic Powder
    • Sea salt
    • Turmeric Powder

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Seasoning Blend Instructions

You will simply combine all spices in a bowl and blend whisk them together in a bowl until it's golden in color and all the spices are well mixed.

A glass bowl filled with the spices on a countertop. A whisk is in the bowl with the spices. Whisk the spices together.

Then you will want to fill a large spice jar or a mason jar. Either one will work as long as it's air-tight. This is a great addition to your basic vegan pantry and everyday healthy cooking.

mason jar closed with seasoning mixture.

Note: You will want to be sure if you spill the mixture onto your clothes or your granite or marble countertop it can stain it bright orange. The turmeric is very dark and doesn't like to come out of towels are clothing. It will also stain your fingers, meats, and cauliflower once it gets wet. On a positive note, it gives the vegan cheeses a nice golden color.

    Recipe Variations

You can use this blend as a base to create more "cuisine" specific seasonings.

    • Spicy - add red cayenne or red chili flakes.
    • Indian - try adding coriander, cumin, lemon peel, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, garlic, and cayenne.
    • Italian - add basil, oregano, thyme and red chili flakes.
    • Cheese Dip - some people swear that mustard powder makes things taste cheesy. Add that spice to this blend if you add it to your cheese sauce recipe.

    Equipment

Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Stone bakeware takes longer to heat up than metal pans, and also retain heat for longer, which could make the recipe more watery, or burnt on the outsides.

Tell your visitors what equipment you use and how to adjust the recipe if they use something different, and link to your affiliate link to purchase the equipment.

    Storage

Store in an air-tight container in your spice drawer or cupboard. You might want to remake it after 4-6 months to be sure it's fresh as it can be.

🙋🏼‍♀️ Huge Chris Stapleton fan here. And passion fruit lover. They are in season and growing all over the place here. ⬇️
Passion fruit water is yet another youth serum. As passion fruit is full of vitamin C, vitamin A, fiber, and minerals like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and folate. These help your kidneys, nerves, muscles, and heart rhythm in big ways.
Your body uses Vitamins C to make blood vessels, cartilage, muscles, and collagen, which keeps skin looking young. It also helps your body heal, lowers inflammation, and protects your cells from damage. When you get enough vitamin C, it lowers your chances of getting colds and certain types of cancers. Vit A is great for eyes, immunity, and cells.
Note: did you know Passion Fruit is actually a berry? The biggest berry you’ll find.

If you’re not ready for change, you’re not rea
If you’re not ready for change, you’re not ready for change. And that’s perfectly ok.
Making healthy choices isn’t hard work. You “have time” to choose an apple over a bag of chips. Let’s be real here; you just DON’T WANT TO. And that alone is totally ok!!
Let’s not shame others choices or pressure another to change. If somebody is not happy where they’re at, or they are sick, or in pain, only then will they start examining their current routines and habits. Anger is a great catalysts for change. It often pushes people out if their comfort zones and into action.
I often hear “I don’t have time to be healthy”. But what that really means is I don’t want to change or I’m afraid of change. And I’m not ready. Change is what they’re nervous about - not the amount of time it takes to chop up vegetables.
Be kind to yourself…but be honest.
Notice what you say you desire (weightloss or more energy) and then really examine your habits. Do you make the choices a “thin” person makes? Do you make the choices a rested high energy person needs to make? This might seem obvious but it’s actually not…so often we overlook this gap. We don’t see it and then we get mad at ourselves. Punish ourselves for “failing” over and over again.
Once you start paying attention to your actions and habits and line them up with your goals - that’s when the magic happens.
Yay or nay?
